Dancing King… NOT!!!

So let me share a little. This Sunday, I’ll be dancing in our Christmas Party at the Megatent in Pasig. Let me repeat that, TJ CAFUIR WILL BE DANCING. From what I remember, the last time I did dancing was in an ultra-dark club with lazer lights somewhere in Libis. First I was just groovin’ to whatever the DJ was spinning. Next thing I remember, I was kissing an underage girl wearing dark glasses while all the people around me was soaking everyone with water. I was feeling extra giddy that night. Hmmm, maybe because I took 2 blue pills of what I was told was just Aspirin. That felt weird really. Oh well whatever, college days.
Anywayyy.
It’s a serious dance competition. A whopping P30,000 grand will be given to the winning group. Our team, “the Macalooweez”, eyed the prize and trained real hard for this gig. The marketing team won 1st prize last year, thanks to the awesome dancing of my co-workers and also partly, ahem, to my visionary performance as a nerd. So being the “defending” champs, we’re to set the bar a little more unreachable higher this time around. Our choreography is definitely bad-ass. I mean like Step Up 2 bad-ass. No I mean like Jabbawockeez kinda bad-ass. No no, I mean like pre-pedophelia, pre-facial meltdown Michael Jackson kinda bad-ass. Hit it up, we takin’ it to the street yo!
Hokkkay.
Seriously, I never really liked dancing. Don’t get me wrong though. As a student and even up to now I am supportive to the visual and performing arts. It’s just that I find dancing kinda gay you know. “5,6,7,8 and 5,6,7,8 now righhht and leffft” Ewwww and double ewwww.
But you know what? Now that I’m into all this, I find that dancing is pure artistry after all. It is poetry in motion. Body movements communicate well and these movements are expressively interpreted and perceived visually. Not that I’m a great dancer (heck I’m not even a good dancer) but I know what the Justin Timberlakes and Janet Jacksons of the world must feel like. They are one with the beat and in tone with their bodies. Now that’s something worth putting motion into.
As for the Macaloowweez, win or no win come Sunday night, we’ll simply kick ass. Homies, stay tune for the video. See you in the streets y’all. Know what I’m saying? Holla at yo boy, reprazent. Check mike one two one two.
I am so corny, word up.
*thanks Aimee and Princess for the pic and video
No more joey de leon dance steps from you boy. goodluck later! i wish i could see the performance.
