funny or die (the blog post)
Posted: November 25th, 2008 | Author: Tj Cafuir | Filed under: Uncategorized | 10 Comments »Blogging is simply writing for an audience. The Technograph delivers industry news to the tech junkies while Mike Villar produces heathen entertainment. There are many blogs out there in the Philippine blogosphere, each belonging to their respective categories. Now even though two or more blogs may have relative content, the difference between blogs lies within the unique voice of the blogger. After all, blogs became a phenomenon due to its targeted and personalized structure.
Now with that being said it would be obvious that I run a personal blog. The Life and Times. You can’t get any more personal than that. Well, not if we count out the LiveJournal accounts that houses infinite sadness and melancholy. Nothing wrong with that. I love overly-sensitive women who loves to incorporate their pink with black. I can feel their strength thru the colors, telling me there is a spirited balance between loyalty to Mariah Carey and a bad-ass affinity to My Chemical Romance. Awesome. Meh.
Alright back to me. I took up blogging ever since my mom beat the hell out of me because I wouldn’t put my dirty socks to the hamper. One night the whole family stayed up and didn’t sleep for two days because something in the air smelled like a rotting pig. Yes, they found my socks under the sofa. How they got there I don’t remember. All I know is that I started running a personal journal right after that, with the first line going “Dear blog, my family hates me.”
And since that fateful day I’ve been writing in an insulting, sarcastic, self-gratifying and self-depreciating manner. Mainly because to boost my rock bottom morale. Although I do have my introspective moments, I generally view life in a different light. Humor. I view the world in a comedic perspective unique only to me. Insulting maybe to those that may have graced my content, although I don’t intend anyone to get seriously pissed, people shouldn’t really get over-sensitive about it. It’s just a blog. A humor blog. If you don’t get it, then you’re not in on the punchline. If you happen to be the punchline, sorry then. But who cares really? Nobody and you shouldn’t.
Unless someone digs into a blog’s archive, it would be hard to get to know the author behind the words. Why is this? Simply because the identity of a blogger is revealed only after avid readership. And through this steady readership, does a blog/blogger develop a fan base. I, Tj Cafuir of tjcafuir.com, does not have not one single fan except for my gay stalker online. But that’s another story.
The web has it’s humor, that is my whole point. A different kind that varies from blog to blog. You won’t find this elsewhere, not even in your Sunday newspapers and definitely not in your Chalk Magazine. Blogs speak of individuality and wit and uncommon sensibility. They would either be received or hated, but some bloggers won’t even care. And that’s just the awful truth. People, it is a laughing matter, even if the joke’s on you.
*Funny Or Die is streaming funny videos online. FYI.
