My New Laptop
Posted: June 10th, 2008 | Author: Tj Cafuir | Filed under: Uncategorized | 1 Comment »Because work requires me to be online all the time, having a laptop is a necessity. So after countless online window shopping, catalog browsing and I badly need online mobility rants, I decided to purchase the laptop that perfectly suits my style and my budget. The product… the new Dell Inspiron 1420.

This model is the cheapest from the 1420 family. But for 38k, I believe I got more than my money’s worth. It came packed with Intel Dual Core with 1GB of RAM. It’s pre-installed with Vista Home (although I really wanted Vista Premium) and McAfee softwares. Best of all, it features the Dell Webcam Center!

Dell has this feature called the Wi-Fi Catcher. It strongly scans an area for wireless networks and connects you to it. Last night I used it and the laptop was able to capture almost 10 wireless networks in our condominium! Now I don’t have to pay for going wireless. Sweet!
Only thing that bothers is me is Dell’s longevity in terms of performance. Sure it maybe working great as I’m blogging right now, but I know for a fact that longevity isn’t Dell’s strong points. How do I know? Well I worked at Dell Tech Support before and all I kept hearing are bad customer feedback. Certain laptops end up showing the blue screen of death after only being used for a couple months. I certainly hope this particular 1420 of mine won’t end up the same way.
Anyways, I have a good laptop. This certainly is helpful with my SEO work and other online pursuits. Plus it has a one year warranty over at ElectroWorld. I drop this thing, and they’ll replace it.
Crossed out another from my wishlist. Next thing I’ll purchase, the only thing that I dream of every night, is a 9 foot longboard. Hang loose!
